Welcome to the 13th day of the 28-day Corona proof your business challenge.

And today, I'm going to reveal the often overlooked, dirty little secret of truly attention-grabbing catchy headlines. Why? Because headlines are the most important thing in terms of conversion rate optimization.

Whenever somebody lands on your website, you only have two seconds to grab attention. Otherwise, they bounce and you get penalized in a lot of ways. Now the one thing that can buy you a few more extra seconds is a catchy headline.

The headline is the "end all be all" of every single landing page, every single sales page, every single advertisement ever. It's The ONE thing that grabs people's attention and creates that magical three, four, or five-second connection that allows you to suck people into your sales message.

And hopefully, if you do a good enough job, move them through this slippery slope so that eventually they land at your call to action button and they do the action that you want them to take.

So what's the often-overlooked, dirty little secret of headlines that grab attention? Well, it's nothing really special. If you think about it, it's something boring, something bland that a lot of people still overlook. And is this:

Good catchy headlines take ages to write because they need a lot of customer research and they're often written last in a sales message (not first, but last). So why is this in a nutshell?

Since so much hinges on a headline, you cannot really allow yourself to have a "hit or miss" type of thing with this. Because if you do... then you're losing a lot of your traffic immediately. So what good copywriters and marketers do is that they do crazy amounts of customer research.

They try to really, really, and I mean really understand their ideal customer. Also sometimes they split these idle customers into various segments and they create separate versions of their sales page, just specifically custom tailor to this segment.
