Coronavirus restrictions must not 'destroy Australia's way of life'

Coronavirus restrictions must not 'destroy Australia's way of life' Australia must be cautious not to “destroy the very fabric of our nation” in the battle to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Outsiders host Rowan Dean says.

Mr Dean praised the efforts of the Morrison government over the past three weeks for its commitment to fiscal stimulus and measures to stop the exponential spread of the virus.

But he said it was now time to be “clever” to preserve our way of life.

“If we do not see a second exponential wave of contagion in the next three weeks, we must start preparing to preserve and revitalise our economic prosperity and freedom-loving way of life urgently,” he said.

"Talk of a six month recession and millions unemployed and relying on handouts is unacceptable.

"Assuming the virus remains at acceptable non-exponential levels over the next fortnight, the government must begin opening businesses across Australia and spell out a clear timetable and clear set of metrics to rapidly return the entire economy back to normal."
