A lot of advancement has taken place, but in that advancement, where did happiness go? Nowadays we observe that in Kolkatta, Delhi, and in many towns across the world, in cities like New York and London, there is so much density of population that it is hard to walk on the streets. Bodies clash against each other. However, the heart does not come close to anyone. The heart has gone far away. There is lack of love. Today the problem is not about food and drink. Money, too, is not an issue. The problem today is [the lack] of love. Now, we observe that in a crowd if any person collides and falls down, there is no one to lift him up.
Many people reside in one flat [building]. But, we are not even aware - in one house someone has died, while in another, there is a wedding. There is no affectionate empathy towards anyone.
Today, there is no love between man and woman. A woman’s [wife’s] bank balance and everything else is separate. Daughter and son have separate [bank accounts], father has separate, and grandfather has separate. Despite residing together, there is no love. The problem of the millennium is [lack of] love.
If there is everything in this world except affection, then a human being is inert. No person can be happy.
So, despite being a pauper, if you have love in your heart, then the whole family can lovingly stay together. And if there is no love, then even if one has all the wealth of this world, it cannot make that person happy. To address this problem we will have to inevitably look back 500 years, at Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. He had come to give this love, not money. He did not come to establish religious duties. He did not come for any other objective. All these things will carry on by themselves.
