The 'Two Leagues' Rumor: How NASCAR Would Look with Different Conferences

The 'Two Leagues' Rumor: How NASCAR Would Look with Different Conferences AKA: The Belated April Fools Day video

Around 2003, NASCAR was booming as a sports league. Attendance, TV ratings, you name it were on the rise. CEO at the time Bill France Jr saw this, and longed to expand further to West Coast markets. That led to the controversial schedule realignment of 2004-2005, with Auto Club, Texas, and Phoenix getting races over Rockingham and Darlington. Yet, there was a proposal by Bruton Smith to create two leagues, with the idea of running 2 NASCAR Cup Series races every Sunday. This video analyzes separate conference and a realistic approach to how NASCAR today would look with an east and a west splitting the competition.
