IIT Delhi has joined the Covid-19 fight by developing an affordable testing kit. The kit has been developed by researchers at IIT's Kusuma School of Biological Sciences. ICMR has also approved the IIT Delhi-developed testing kit. "We got this kit ready by the end of March and got it evaluated by ICMR," Prof Vivekanandan Perumal said. Prof Bishwajit Kundu said, "The kit developed in-house will cost around Rs 200-300 but when a person goes for testing some other components add up. As per our rough estimate, the expected cost would be around Rs 750-800."
