IDFOC hosted a panel of academic experts including Prof Ben Tonra, Prof Dr Sven Biscop, Caitriona Heinl, Dr Brendan Flynn and Dr Edward Burke on Thursday, 25 June 2020. Thirty years after the Gleeson Commission Report, the Commission on Defence provided for in the Programme for Government June 2020 will shape the Defence Forces for a generation to come.
The panel discussed issues that should be covered by the Commission, its Terms of Reference, the composition of the Commission and governance structures required to ensure that its proposals are implemented.
