Philippine Coast Guard to receive 20 units of Top of the line patrol boats from Israel


Based on Philippine Coast Guard Admiral Joel Garcia’s TOUR OF DUTY REPORT video, the Philippine Coast Guard is expected to receive 20 units of the The Shaldag MK V patrol boats from Israel Shipyards.

According to Israel Shipyards, the Shaldag MK V is the largest family member of the Shaldag Class patrol boats. It is a combat-proven, all-aluminum, light and fast vessel with high payload capacity, designed for naval security missions.

The Shaldag MK V, provides a high level of maneuverability and seakeeping. Which is designed to operate in distant arenas, which is cost-effective and with a high firepower-to-displacement ratio. The Shaldag MK V is a recognized leader in the protection of littoral and EEZ waters, says Israel Shipyards.

Also included in the Philippine Coast Guard’s acquisition, is a remote-controlled .50 caliber weapon system, though the exact number of units was not disclosed, the weapon system is intended to be installed on the coast guard’s patrol boats.

The Philippine Coast Guard continues to modernize and upgrade its capabilities to keep up with the continuing increase of its mission requirements.
