Dan Andrews’ popularity in 'freefall' as lockdown measures are reintroduced

Dan Andrews’ popularity in 'freefall' as lockdown measures are reintroduced Victoria's Opposition health spokeswoman Georgie Crozier says the Victorian government’s response to the coronavirus is in “shambles” after a rapid escalation in community transmissions forced Daniel Andrews to lockdown 10 coronavirus hotspots.

Premier Daniel Andrews said the radical stage three restrictions will be enforced from 11.59pm Wednesday night in a desperate bid to take back control of the state's surging coronavirus outbreak.

Ms Crozier said the Cedar Meats debacle, the breakdown in quarantine security resulting in community infections and issues surrounding coronavirus testing, points to the "mishandling" of the pandemic under the Andrews government.

“We’ve got a COVID crisis in Victoria and it is all of Daniel Andrews own making,” she told Sky News host Peter Gleeson.

Mr Gleeson said the Victorian Premier had been "referred to as Teflon Dan" due to his high popularity ratings which remained consistent despite political crises.

However, Mr Andrews popularity has crashed in the wake of the branch stacking scandal, the COVID-19 outbreak in the state and his involvement in the Belt and Road initiative, Mr Gleeson said.
